Double Word Bonus (DW) and Triple Word Bonus (TW) are special bonus tiles on the gameboard, which multiply the point value for all tiles in the word, including a tile played on this square. These word modifiers stack together, which means that if additional word bonus tiles are placed in the same line underneath the tiles of your word, the bonuses will multiply the final score of the validated word placed on them. For example, if you validate a word placed on 2 TW squares, this will multiply the score for this word by 9, 3 TW tiles will multiply it by 27, 4 TW tiles multiply it by 81, and so on. So if your opponent was able to use boosters like Balance or Balance + alongside a different booster that adds extra word bonus modifiers to the board like Ball of Yarn, Hand Mixer or Bonus Storm, their score will be multiplied by all of these added word bonuses, sometimes boosting their score to more than a thousand points per word. These word multipliers obtained thanks to boosters will therefore enable players to obtain very impressive scores during one round.
Note: Please bear in mind that sometimes, due to de-synchronisation issues, the final score for the validated word might appear to be adjusted; an initial score will appear first, with a new final score supplanting it immediately. Please note that this may happen due to poor connectivity and is not indicative of any errors in the final score shown when the round ends.
